Landscape Analysis of Potential First Foods in Somalia

Project Summary:

Tropical Consult is conducting a comprehensive nationwide analysis of potential first foods across Somalia's diverse agro-ecological, seasonal, and cultural contexts. This study addresses critical gaps in understanding complementary feeding practices and food availability for infants and young children. The research identifies context-appropriate food options to benefit nutrition programming, mothers, caregivers, and health workers.

Key Deliverable:

The team is delivering inception reports, conducting nationwide data collection, and preparing interim and final reports that synthesize availability, affordability, consumption patterns, and market dynamics related to first foods.

Final Evaluation of the Fish-for-Nutrition Project (FNP)

Project Summary:

Tropical Consult conducted an endline evaluation of the Fish for Nutrition Project in Kismayo to assess nutritional and infrastructure impacts. The evaluation addressed project effectiveness measurement to benefit fishermen, fish traders, and community members. It focused on measuring outcomes against the OECD/DAC criteria of relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, impact, and sustainability.

Key Deliverable:

Prepared endline reports, assessed fish losses, catch, and demand, and organized validation workshops with stakeholders.
