  1. Project Background
    The Urban Food Security Project (UFSP) in Kismayo, Somalia, aims to improve the nutritional situation and livelihoods of households in the new settlements. The project, implemented by GIZ has been commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in May 2017. The project focuses on enhancing access to WASH infrastructure, increasing household income, and improving access to and information on more nutritious foods.

As part of the project’s end of evaluation and video documentation, we are seeking qualified Enumerators to support data collection activities.

  1. Objectives
    The objectives of this assignment are as follows:
    a) Conduct an endline evaluation of the UFSP in the four project locations (Midnimo, Madina, Gobweyn, and Luglow area) to assess project results and impact against baseline indicators.
    b) Define and quantify relevant outcome and output indicators captured in the project’s result matrix.
    c) Design and implement data collection methodologies, including surveys and interviews, to gather information for each indicator.
    d) Collect and analyze secondary data to supplement the evaluation findings.
  2. Responsibilities and Deliverables
    3.1 Enumerators: The Enumerators will be responsible for the following tasks:
    a) Participate in training sessions to familiarize themselves with the evaluation methodology and data collection tools.
    b) Conduct surveys, interviews, and data collection activities in the field following the provided guidelines.
    c) Ensure accurate and complete data collection.
    d) Maintain regular communication with the project team and provide updates on data collection progress.
    e) Adhere to ethical standards and confidentiality protocols during data collection.
    f) Submit completed questionnaires and survey data to the Field Research Officers in a timely manner.
    g) Participate in debriefing sessions and provide feedback on field observations and challenges encountered.
  3. Deliverables:
    a) Completed questionnaires and survey data.
    b) Regular updates on data collection progress.
    c) Participation in debriefing sessions.
  4. Qualifications and Experience
    5.1 Enumerators:
    o Prior experience in conducting surveys or data collection activities.
    o Knowledge of data collection methodologies and tools.
    o Good communication and interpersonal skills.
    o Ability to work in the field and follow instructions.
    o Familiarity with the local context and language is preferred.
  5. Duration and Timeline
    The assignment is expected to start on October 9, 2023 and be completed by October 19, 2023. The exact timeline will be discussed and agreed upon with the selected candidates.
  6. Reporting
    The Enumerators will report to the Field Programs Manager or designated supervisor.
  7. Remuneration
    Remuneration will be provided based on agreed daily rates or a fixed lump sum amount, subject to negotiation and in accordance with the organization’s policies.
